Moving north along Honoapiilani Hwy, less than 7 miles past Kaanapali, you’ll find D.T. Fleming Beach. After passing the Ritz Carlton Kapalua, at the bottom of the hill, turn left. “Flemings” is located at the foot of the Ritz Carlton property.
D.T. Fleming Beach is a white, sandy beach with a large shaded picnic area, picnic tables, and barbeques. There are restrooms and lifeguards here as well. This beach offers some amazing scenery with the closest views of the eastern cliffs of Molokai across the Pailolo Channel. In the summer, this beach is good for swimming.
Often during the winter, the shore break here is strong, so use caution. D.T. Fleming Beach is a great place for body boarding, as the sand allows room to catch the wave over water and not right at the waterline. At the north end of the beach, in front of the Honokohua Stream, there is a right peeling (and sometimes left) wave. If waves are small, it’s a great place for beginning surfers. Bordered on the southwest by Makaluapuna Point, this area has some coastal trails along the lava to explore.
