Launiupoko Beach Park is one mile south of Puamana Beach Park. Now if you can say that right 3 times you win a prize. Nah, just kidding, but if you can say it, you’re doing pretty good. Launiupoko is located at the first traffic light heading south out of Lahaina. It has a large grassy lawn with picnic tables, BBQs, and lots and lots of shade.
At Launiupoko Beach there are restrooms and fresh water showers, but no lifeguard. Lauiniupoko’s proximity to the island of Lana'i gives this beach its gorgeous views. It is a popular beach with locals on weekends and holidays, so it can be crowded. Parking is limited, but there is overflow parking across the highway.
There is a small lagoon created by a breakwall in the middle of the park with soft grayish sand at the left end. Launiupoko Beach is a well-known spot for longboarding, stand-up paddling, and beginning surf lessons. The waves are usually nice and clean here. There are lots of surf breaks to choose from -- beginner to advanced. Here’s a little tip: The wave at the north and of the beach park, where the grass ends, is often not crowded.
